1. What the Site is

financecanada.ca is an independent Canadian financial media platform. We publish editorial content, provide financial calculators, display comparative rate information from Canadian lenders, and operate a directory connecting consumers with independently verified financial professionals (mortgage brokers, insurance agents, and investment advisors) in their community.

financecanada.ca is not a mortgage brokerage, insurance agency, investment dealer, or financial advisor. We do not provide financial, legal, tax, or investment advice. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the Government of Canada or any financial institution referenced on the Site.

The Site is intended for individuals who have reached the age of majority in their province or territory of residence and who are located in Canada.

2. Revenue model and no compensation for referrals

financecanada.ca is funded exclusively through flat, recurring subscription fees paid by professionals who choose to be listed in our directory. We do not receive commissions, referral fees, or any other compensation tied to whether a consumer contacts, hires, or transacts with a listed professional. Subscription fees do not vary based on referral volume or outcomes, and do not influence editorial content or the verification standard applied to any professional.

3. Verification of listed professionals

Professionals listed in our directory are independently verified against the following standard before being accepted, and periodically thereafter:

• An active provincial licence in good standing, verified against the relevant regulator (e.g., FSRA, BCFSA, CIRO, provincial CPA bodies, provincial Law Societies).
• No active disciplinary proceedings, licence suspensions, or upheld formal consumer complaints within the past three years.
• A minimum 4.0-star Google rating from at least 10 verified reviews.
• An active, verifiable professional web presence with contact information consistent with their regulatory registry listing.

This verification reflects our own standard, applied at a point in time. It is not a licence, endorsement, guarantee, or regulatory certification, and does not substitute for your own due diligence before engaging any professional. We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to remove any professional from the directory at any time — including for conduct we become aware of after listing — without that removal constituting a breach of any agreement with the affected professional. Removal does not entitle the professional to a refund of fees already paid, except as separately agreed in their subscription agreement.

4. We are not responsible for a listed professional's conduct

financecanada.ca introduces consumers to independently verified professionals; it does not supervise, employ, control, or take responsibility for their conduct, advice, services, or any transaction between a consumer and a listed professional. Any engagement you enter into with a listed professional is solely between you and that professional. We are not a party to that relationship, and we disclaim all liability arising from it, including but not limited to professional negligence, breach of contract, misrepresentation, or any financial loss resulting from your dealings with a listed professional.

The Site links to websites operated by others, including the websites of listed professionals and lenders. We do not control and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or privacy practices, and a link is not an endorsement.

5. Rate and comparison information

Mortgage and other rate information displayed on the Site is provided for general informational purposes only, is updated regularly but not in real time; the Last Updated date on the rates page shows when rates were last refreshed. Rates shown are lenders' posted or representative rates and may not be the rates available to you. Rates may vary based on borrower qualifications, product type, term, and lender-specific criteria. Always verify current rates directly with the lender before making a financial decision.

6. Calculators

Calculators on the Site provide estimates only, based on the figures you enter. Results are illustrative and do not constitute an offer, pre-approval, or guarantee of any kind. Results depend on the accuracy of the figures you enter. Calculators are informational tools only; they are not financial models, advice, or a substitute for professional guidance.

7. Trademarks

Lender and institution names, logos, and trademarks displayed on the Site are the property of their respective owners and are used solely for identification purposes in rate comparison tables. Their use does not imply any affiliation with, sponsorship by, or endorsement from the trademark owner. These references are informational only. If a trademark owner asks us to modify or remove a reference to its marks, we will act on the request promptly.

8. Professional subscribers

Professionals subscribe to be listed in the directory for a recurring monthly fee. Fees typically range from approximately $99 to $499 per month depending on community, though individual arrangements may be negotiated. The terms of a professional's listing, including the exact fee, billing cycle, cancellation, and the scope of any exclusive placement, are governed by the agreement between ITA Media Group Inc. and that professional, whether our standard Professional Subscription Agreement or an individually negotiated agreement. In the event of any conflict between these Terms and that agreement, that agreement prevails for that professional. Our standard model offers one verified professional per category per community, with communities defined by the platform's then current community map.

Professionals who submit profile content, including photos, biographical information, and licence details, are responsible for that content, and by submitting it confirm that it is accurate and that they have the rights needed to publish it on the Site. Their agreement with us contains their full obligations.

9. No professional advice

Nothing on the Site constitutes financial, mortgage, insurance, investment, tax, or legal advice. You should consult a licensed professional before making any financial decision.

9A. Our content and your permitted use

The Site and everything on it, including editorial content, calculators, rate compilations and their presentation, page design, graphics, and the financecanada.ca name and marks, are owned by ITA Media Group Inc. or its licensors. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive licence to access and view the Site for your personal, non-commercial use. Except as permitted by law, you may not copy, republish, distribute, sell, or create derivative works from Site content without our prior written consent. Lender and institution trademarks remain the property of their respective owners as described in Section 7.

9B. Acceptable use

You agree not to: access the Site using bots, scrapers, or other automated means, or harvest or republish rate data or directory content; interfere with the operation or security of the Site; misrepresent your identity or your affiliation with any person; use the Site to send spam or unlawful communications; or attempt to access accounts or systems you are not authorized to access. We may suspend or block access to the Site for any user who violates these Terms, and may remove any content that violates them, without notice.

10. Limitation of liability

The Site and all content are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the maximum extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that content is complete or current at all times, and we may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Site at any time.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ITA Media Group Inc. is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss or damage arising from your use of the Site, reliance on any content, rate information, or calculator result, or your dealings with any listed professional (see Section 4). Our total aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or relating to the Site or these Terms is limited to the greater of $100 and the fees you paid to ITA Media Group Inc. in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for gross negligence, wilful misconduct, or fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, and nothing in these Terms limits any non-waivable rights you have under applicable consumer protection legislation.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless ITA Media Group Inc. and its directors, officers, and employees from and against third-party claims, damages, and reasonable costs arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Site, or your violation of applicable law or the rights of any third party.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario. Before starting any proceeding, the parties will attempt in good faith to resolve the dispute by negotiation for 30 days after written notice of it. Nothing in this section overrides mandatory consumer protection laws of your province of residence or prevents you from bringing a claim in a forum those laws give you.

13. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be signalled by an updated effective date at the top of this page, and for professional subscribers we will provide notice using the contact information on file before material changes take effect as to them.

15. General

These Terms, together with any agreement described in Section 8, are the entire agreement between you and ITA Media Group Inc. regarding the Site. You may not assign these Terms or any rights under them without our prior written consent, and any purported assignment without consent is void; we may assign these Terms without consent in connection with a merger, amalgamation, sale of all or substantially all of our assets, or other corporate reorganization. If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. Neither party is liable for delay or failure caused by events beyond its reasonable control. Notices to us may be sent to the contact details in Section 14. These Terms may be accepted electronically, including by clicking to accept or by signing an agreement that incorporates them by reference, and electronic acceptance is binding.
